There are two methods available for synchronous VoIP (Voice over
Internet Protocol) sessions.
1. Using free internet telephony like Skype
In this case you need to set up a Skype account. Even if you already
have another Skype account, it is advisable to create a new one to
communicate with Portulano members. You can easily switch accounts to
log in into Skype. Instructions are available in the Tools area.
Skype allows for free conference calls with up to 5 people
simultaneously, or 500 people in a conference room for a charge.
2. Using the Forum software from Sanako
In partnership with the Virtual
Language Lab (VLL) of the California State University, Portulano
members will be able to use the Sanako Forum platform to hold sessions
with up to 20 members simultaneously. Instructions will be given for
each session.
